2007 TANZANIA - Some animals look good photographed in monochrome. Our guide in the Ngorongoro crater took us to a track he knew was used by lions. We saw one half a mile away, walking slowly toward us. Eventually it was no more than six feet away; so close that it filled the frame of a telephoto lens.

2007- A whole pride of lions by the Grumeti river - nine in all. Even though they were resting it was an unnerving experience.
